DefTech Day Recap at #SCCON25
Innovative Technologies for the Future of Defense
On September 30, 2025, the Startup Stage at the Smart Country Convention was fully focused on the technological transformation in the defense sector. DefTech Day 2025 brought together experts from business, politics, and the military to rethink the modernization of the armed forces and discuss the role of innovative technologies in Germany’s security.
In light of Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, it became clear that modern armed forces no longer rely solely on traditional equipment like tanks or weapons. The emphasis is increasingly on digital solutions in areas such as Software Defined Defense, Unmanned Systems, and Artificial Intelligence.
In panels and keynote sessions, representatives from startups, the defense industry, and public institutions explored how Germany can strengthen innovation and technological sovereignty in the security sector. Topics such as startup financing, changes on the battlefield, and public procurement were discussed in depth.
