From expo to networking: international highlights at the Smart Country Convention 2024

· 50 international speakers and more than 20 international programme highlights on the SCCON stages

· Almost 30 international exhibitors from more than 10 countries

· First International Matchmaking at SCCON

Digitalisation does not end at national borders - as the Smart Country Convention 2024 from 15 - 17 October in Berlin will show. With around 600 speakers from Germany and abroad, exhibitors from more than 10 countries and new international networking formats, the leading event for the public sector offers more international highlights than ever before.

Best practices from the partner country 2024

As President of this year's SCCON partner country Latvia, Edgars Rinkēvičs will officially open the Smart Country Convention on 15 October. He will be joined by the Latvian Minister of Economy, Viktors Valainis, who will speak at the SCCON Networking Night and present flagship projects from the partner country. In ‘Spotlight Latvia’, experts such as Neils Kalniņš, Director of 5G Techritory and the Office of Electronic Communications, will share their experiences from Latvia's digital development.

International programme highlights on the stages

On the second day of the event, Daniel Risch, Head of Government and Minister for Presidential Affairs and Finance in the Principality of Liechtenstein, and Conor Murphy, Minister for Economic Affairs of Northern Ireland, will be on stage to talk about digitalisation in their countries. Konstantinos Kyranakis, Deputy Minister for Digital Governance in Greece, will focus on the topic of artificial intelligence in digital government services.

The ‘Smart Country International’ panel will bring together several European experts on stage: Kaspars Kauliņš, Director of International Business Development from Latvia, Nerijus Eimanavicius, CEO of TeleSoftas from Lithuania, Emmanuel Yannakoudakis, from the University of Economics and Business in Athens and Maria Claudia Bodino, Team Leader of the EU Commission.

The Smart Country Convention's further education programme is also expanding its international focus: the Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building is organising a deep dive on the Smart Country Network, which brings together municipalities and local authorities from all over Europe.

Exhibitors and partners present solutions from the DACH region - and beyond

Exhibitors from more than 10 countries will present their solutions at the Smart Country Convention 2024. These include Advantage Austria, the official representative of the Austrian economy with numerous partner companies, the Estonian Business and Innovation Agency with other digital companies from Estonia and numerous individual companies from Belgium, France, Great Britain, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Ukraine, Hong Kong and the USA.

For the first time, the Smart City Hub Switzerland, the Future City Alliance Switzerland and the Austrian Association of Cities and Towns will be represented as international institutional partners at the Smart Country Convention.

International matchmaking at #SCCON24

The Enterprise Europe Network Berlin-Brandenburg is also organising an international matchmaking event as part of the Smart Country Convention to enable participants to make targeted contacts abroad. The exchange format is aimed at companies, start-ups, research institutions, administrations and organisations that are interested in promoting innovative ideas or tapping into new markets and technologies. More information and the opportunity to register can be found on the website.

Tickets for the Smart Country Convention are available free of charge in the online ticket shop.
