Sovereign digitalisation: cyber security as an enabler for resilient authorities

Written in white on a blue background: ‘We protect what matters. In the digital world'

‘We protect what matters. In the digital world.’ The team around Myra founders Sascha Schumann and Paul Kaffsack has been pursuing this mission since 2012.

Protecting sensitive citizen data while ensuring the availability of digital services is a challenge for many public authorities. In addition, limited resources and a lack of specialist staff in the IT security sector are making it difficult to rapidly digitalise the administration. There is currently a shortage of around 120,000 IT security specialists nationwide. ‘We see the greatest challenges in the increasing complexity and frequency of cyberattacks on public institutions,’ says Christof Klaus, Director Global Network Defence at Myra Security.

As a German technology manufacturer, Myra Security offers a secure, certified security-as-a-service platform that protects websites, applications, APIs and the underlying IT infrastructure with cybersecurity solutions against a wide range of risks such as DDoS attacks, bot networks and attacks on databases. The Munich-based company offers customised cybersecurity* concepts for federal, state and local authorities that are tailored to the specific requirements of the public sector. Myra technology is certified by the German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) in accordance with ISO 27001 on the basis of IT baseline protection.

Responding proactively and confidently to threats

‘It is an expression of digital sovereignty when the availability of administrative services is based on the reliable foundation of cybersecurity ‘Made in Germany’. This enables public authorities to act independently of geopolitical developments and external providers. Those who see cybersecurity as an integral part of their digital strategy are creating the basis for a sovereign, trustworthy and future-proof administration,’ emphasises Christof Klaus.

The smart Myra technology monitors, analyses and filters harmful internet traffic even before virtual attacks cause any real damage. Thanks to cloud-based scalability, the insights gained can be quickly rolled out across the entire content delivery network (CDN). In this way, the defence system detects and combats complex attack patterns on government infrastructures without any loss of performance. The combination of automation and cloud flexibility provides a robust defence against cyber risks while meeting the compliance requirements of the public sector with highly available cyber resilience.

By integrating Myra, authorities can proactively respond to new threats and thus sustainably strengthen the resilience of the digital infrastructure in the public sector.
