#WirMachenSouverän (#wemakesovereign): Under this motto, ZenDiS supports the federal government, the states and local authorities in breaking free from digital dependencies. It acts as a bridge-builder between the state and the private sector and as an enabler for the growing sovereignty community.

At SCCON26 (Hall 27, Stand 103), the focus will be on joint efforts on key projects to achieve greater digital sovereignty. At the ZenDiS stand and on its own stages, ZenDiS experts, open-source providers and partners will offer insights into their programmes, solutions and initiatives.

openCode: The platform for the sovereign digitalisation of public administration

The openCode platform demonstrates the enormous network effects of open source: more than 13,000 users are collaborating here on over 5,700 projects to achieve the sovereign digitalisation of the state – across ministries and federal levels. Solutions are developed by public administrations in collaboration with partners and made available for reuse. openCode connects hundreds of organisations and offers comprehensive knowledge resources. The reliable operation of the platform is supported by Adfinis.

Collaborations for a secure software supply chain

Through openCode, ZenDiS empowers a wide range of stakeholders who are jointly building a secure software supply chain for public administration. As part of the Secure Government Container Initiative, hardened base components (container images) for public administration are generated and made available in collaboration with the Foreign Office’s IT department for overseas operations, within the context of the PLAIN data and AI platform. In collaboration with L3montree, the team demonstrates how the openCode Security Suite supports developers in integrating security-relevant functions directly into the development process in a standardised manner and having them tested.

openDesk: A software suite drawing on the expertise of an entire ecosystem

“Building on tried-and-tested solutions” – this is the guiding principle behind the office and collaboration suite openDesk. Under the leadership of ZenDiS, openDesk brings together solutions from established open-source companies – some of which have been tried and tested millions of times – into a powerful suite. At the ZenDiS stand, B1 Systems, Collabora, Element, Nextcloud, Nordeck, OpenProject, OpenXchange, Univention and XWiki will provide insights into their contributions to the joint project. openDesk is now in productive use across around 100,000 workstations.

SCCON visitors can test openDesk live. They will learn what role the suite plays in the federal government’s modernisation agenda, how openDesk functions as an emergency workstation – specifically, cloud-based communication in the event of a crisis (CKKI) with social security providers – and what the roadmap for high-security requirements looks like. ZenDiS is also seeking to work closely with the market in the operation of openDesk: CSPs such as STACKIT are acting as SaaS providers.
