The Smart Country Convention 2025 is in the starting blocks and celebrating a premiere: for the first time, the newly founded Federal Ministry for Digital and State Modernisation (BMDS) is taking on the patronage. For three days, #SCCON25 will bring innovations, ideas and practical formats for the digital transformation of the public sector to the stage.
Strong presence on the SCCON stages
The BMDS will not only be represented with its own exhibition stand in the expo area, but will also shape the programme with numerous keynotes, panels and discussion rounds. Topics such as the Germany Stack, AI in administration and end-to-end digitisation will take centre stage. One highlight will be the closing keynote by Federal Minister for Digital Affairs Dr Karsten Wildberger on 2 October.
Selection of BMDS programme items:
• 30 September, 10:00 a.m., Plaza Stage: Opening of SCCON 2025
• 1 October, 11:15 a.m., Plaza Stage: Governance and state modernisation
• 1 October, 2:15 p.m., Plaza Stage: The future of administrative services
• 2 October, 4:00 p.m., Plaza Stage: Closing with Dr Karsten Wildberger
Practical workshops
In addition to the stage formats, the BMDS invites participants to practical workshops and seminars – from open data and administrative digitisation to digital public services. Here, participants can deepen their knowledge and engage in direct conversation with experts.

The BMDS is also impossible to miss in the expo area: at stand 502 in hub27, visitors can gain exclusive insights into the work of the ministry, find out about topics such as the modernisation agenda, open data and recruitment, and enjoy exciting keynote speeches.
