Vodafone MCx (Mission Critical Communication) enables prioritised voice and group communication in real time via the Vodafone 4G/5G mobile network. The solution supports public safety authorities and organisations (BOS), as well as systemically important companies and public authorities in accordance with the KRITIS Regulation and the ‘Gelblicht’ framework, in maintaining reliable communication during mission-critical and operationally critical situations.

The focus is on prioritising mission-critical communications through specific quality and prioritisation classes within the mobile network. This ensures that communications take precedence and remain reliably available even when the network is heavily utilised. Similar to a virtual emergency lane, network resources are allocated preferentially to authorised MCx users to ensure messages are transmitted reliably and securely.

The solution is based on international 3GPP standards. Vodafone provides the network-side requirements for standardised MCx services and supports the integration of leading MCx platforms and solution providers. Customers benefit from an open ecosystem and are free to choose the MCx server provider that best suits their requirements.

Vodafone MCx is suitable both for traditional public safety applications such as the police, fire service and emergency medical services, and for operators of critical infrastructure, including airports, ports, energy suppliers, industrial companies, ‘yellow light’ organisations and transport operators. The solution enables secure, resilient and prioritised communication and helps organisations to remain operational even in demanding operational and emergency scenarios.

MCx can effectively complement existing TETRA infrastructures and support the transition to broadband mission-critical communication. Successfully completed pilot projects, tests and funded initiatives already demonstrate the potential of Vodafone MCx today. At the same time, Vodafone offers interested organisations the opportunity to evaluate the solution as part of pilot projects or to deploy it directly in production.
