Careers and job prospects in the digital state – at the Smart Country Convention 2026 Career Day

Digitalisation, artificial intelligence and agile working methods are transforming not only public administration – but also the demands placed on its specialists and managers. What skills will be needed in future? How is AI changing the labour market in the public sector? And what opportunities do career starters and young professionals have to help shape the digital transformation of the state?
These questions will be the focus of the Smart Country Convention’s Career Day on 15 October 2026. On the third day of the event, the SCCON will bring together jobseekers, those starting out in their careers and young professionals with companies and organisations from the public sector, the digital economy and the start-up scene. The focus will be on face-to-face meetings, concrete career opportunities and inspiration for participants’ own career paths.
Who will drive Germany’s digital transformation tomorrow?
The fact that digitalisation places new demands on employees and employers is also reflected in the Career Day’s stage programme. Participants can look forward to exciting sessions on job applications, training and further education, as well as individual career management. The stage programme includes the following sessions, amongst others:
• “10 Future Theses on AI in the Public Sector and its Impact on the Labour Market”.
• “Who will digitalise Germany tomorrow? The role of the next generation in modernising public administration”
• “A Career in the Public Sector – Your Path to a Local Authority IT Service Provider”
From your LinkedIn profile to your initial interview
Career Day combines information with specific opportunities for your next career step in the public sector. The event kicks off with LinkedIn’s ‘Rock your Profile’, offering practical tips for your own applicant profile. There will also be Career Deep & Speed Talks, where participants can get to know companies and organisations through brief one-to-one conversations.
A professional photographer will take high-quality, free application and LinkedIn photos for interested participants. In addition, the Career Tour begins at 12:00 and takes participants directly to the exhibition stands of selected companies and organisations at the Smart Country Convention Expo. Participation is possible without prior registration.
The digital job board and the SCCON online platform feature numerous job vacancies and internships in the public sector and the digital economy. The Career Day thus offers everything from career guidance and personal contacts to practical support for your own job application.
