Career opportunities for the public sector – at the #SCCON25 Career Day
• 2 October 2025: Career Day at the Smart Country Convention brings together talented individuals and employers from the public sector and digital economy
• Hall 25: Career tips, speed dating, application photos and digital job wall with current vacancies
With more than five million employees, the public sector is the largest employer in Germany. At the same time, administrations face the major challenge of attracting urgently needed skilled workers and young talent – especially in the IT sector. With its Career Day on 2 October 2025, the Smart Country Convention is focusing on the topics of training, career entry and career development.
‘Administrations are under enormous pressure in the digital transformation. The demand for qualified specialists is therefore correspondingly high – especially for IT experts,’ says Kevin Helmuth, project manager of the Smart Country Convention. ‘With the Career Day, we bring young talent, specialists and employers together directly and show that the public sector is an attractive, crisis-proof and forward-looking employer.’
Meeting place for employers and young talent
The third day of the Smart Country Convention brings together numerous renowned employers and committed young talent for a direct exchange and offers a comprehensive programme:
• Career Lounge (Hall 25): Central contact point for networking and further training with interactive sessions.
• Career Stage: Practical tips on job applications, career management and personal development from experts.
• Career Speed Dating: Compact 1:1 conversations between young talent and employers.
• Free application photos: A photographer will take professional photos from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
• Digital job wall: Current job vacancies in administration and the digital economy – directly accessible via QR code.

The public sector offers a wide range of opportunities for young professionals: from more than 130 apprenticeships and study opportunities to nationwide job opportunities and crisis-proof jobs. Digitalisation is creating new career paths in a field that contributes directly to shaping society.
