German contract award network @ Smart Country Convention

20 - 22 November 2018, each lasting 3 hours

Together with the Deutsches Vergabenetzwerk organisation (German Contract Award Network), on all three days the Smart Country Convention offers lectures and workshops dealing with current aspects of contract award law, the latest legal decisions and procurements.


SmartCountry{Hacks} - Hackathon

20 - 21 November 2018

Wanted: Digital solutions for municipalities. Together with the association HackerStolz, on 20 and 21 November the Smart Country Convention will be holding the first SmartCountry {Hacks} - Hackathon.

A number of teams will spend 24 hours developing ideas and prototypes from the available data to create digital solutions that will have a lasting effect on administrations and public services.

Between 2 and 4 p.m. on 21 November the results will be presented in project pitches, and the winning team will be selected.


Ambient Assisted Living - Living independently in smart accommodation

20 November 2018, 11.30 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Increases in life expectancy present society with some enormous challenges: How can independence in one’s own home be maintained for as long as possible in advanced old age? Systems designed to assist the elderly can help to improve the quality of life in old age, but are not yet widely used.

The conference on Ambient Assisted Living is presenting pilot projects, which also consider various solutions in the planning of entire urban quarters. The aim is to simplify the provision of individual care and improve the quality of shared living.


Digital Cities Forum

20 November 2018, 2.30 - 5.30 p.m.

In what ways is digitalisation changing our cities? What can/must be done to make the most of this opportunity? Join in discussions about the basic political conditions, the opportunities and the obstacles.

One year on from the "Digital City" competition many projects have been initiated and representatives of the shortlisted cities will be revealing their initial, practical experiences.

20 November 2018, 2 – 5 p.m.

Denmark, the partner country, will present a three-hour programme of lectures on many aspects of the electronic patient file and super-hospitals.

Innovation Forum

2nd German-Italian Innovation Forum

21 November 2018, 10.30 a.m. - 5.30 p.m.

On 21 November the Italian embassy, Italian Trade Agency and Italian Chamber of Commerce are extending an invitation to discuss investments and technological partnerships between Germany and Italy.

Five core areas will be featured: Smart Digital Content, Healthcare, Smart Mobility, Connectivity and Education.

The focus will be on the basic political conditions, best practices from Italy, and investment opportunities.

Smart Government Forum

21 November 2018, 10.30 a.m.- 1.30 p.m.

Denmark, the partner country, will present a three-hour programme of lectures on the subjects of specialist IT-supported processes, eGovernment and legislation.


Utilities 4.0: Added value services behind the meter

21 November 2018, 10.30 a.m. - 1.30 p.m.

The energy sector is in a state of flux. Added value services are seen as an opportunity for developing new digital business models. This offers some interesting possibilities, particularly for municipal utilities.

Among the subjects under discussion at the conference will be improved efficiency through the use of smart meters and the Smart Meter Gateway as the basis for added value services.


Digital Rural Regions Forum

21 November 2018, 2 - 5 p.m.

While digitalisation in cities is often more or less omnipresent, many rural regions are still facing difficulties. Whether it is the inadequate political conditions or a lack of a digital infrastructure, the prerequisites are not ideal everywhere. Nevertheless many outstanding initiatives have already been launched, which can serve as examples for the digitalisation process in rural areas.

The Digital Rural Regions Forum presents various best practices and provides a platform for discussions about the opportunities that will be available in the future.

Digital Office Conference

22 November 2018

The digital office is the control centre for digital transformation: One’s own efficiency is improved by digital processes and the enhanced deployment of resources. Participants in the Digital Office Conference 2018 in Berlin can learn how to make their own processes smarter and why this is a decisive success factor.

An all-day programme of lectures is being provided for participants, as well as an opportunity to exchange ideas about the developments of greatest relevance to one’s own company and to experience digital solutions live.
