Smart Country: 10,000 euros for the most innovative startups
Bitkom to present the Smart Country Startup Award in the categories Smart City and eGovernment
Finalists to deliver pitches at the Smart Country Convention in October
Startups have until 15 September 2019 to apply
Artificial intelligence and blockchains in local government offices, intelligent mobility using all kinds of transport thanks to data analysis and smartphone apps – digital technologies have the capability to make everyday life easier and more environmentally friendly in towns and villages, as well as local government more efficient and people-oriented. Numerous startups are now striving to make this a reality, and those with the most innovative solutions will be honoured with the Smart Country Startup Award. The award will be presented in two categories: Smart City and eGovernment. At the Smart Country Convention (22 to 24 October 2019) in Berlin a total of six finalists will get an opportunity to deliver pitches to an expert jury and a large audience in a bid to win 10,000 euros prize money and a free Get Started membership. The finalists will also be able to meet a large network of established companies, investors and contacts from the public sector and occupy a free stand at the Smart Country Convention. ”If we want to make progress with digitising Germany’s public sector we need to make much better use of startups and their innovative ideas. The Smart Country Startup Award is an opportunity to bring startups and representatives of government and local authorities at federal, state and municipal level together“, said Jenny Boldt, head of Startups at the digital association Bitkom.
The Smart Country Startup Award is organised by Get Started, the startup initiative of Bitkom, and various partners including KPMG and Messe Berlin. Startups still have until 15 September to apply. An application form and full details of the competition can be found at www.smart-country-award.de. The finalists will deliver their pitches and the awards ceremony will take place at the Smart Country Convention on 23 October in Berlin.
